Our Philosophy
Wildwood Playschool is a family-school based program, encouraging and requiring the participation of care-givers in the schooling process. Our Board of Directors is parent run which allows our families the opportunity to contribute to the success of the school and their child’s playschool education. Parents are provided the opportunity to sign up in various roles on the playschool Board of Directors at the time of registration. Board meetings are held monthly and all members of the board and parents of Wildwood Playschool are invited to attend.
Our playschool relies heavily on parent volunteers, in fact all our families are required to sign up to volunteer once every three weeks in the classroom. This adds to the children’s playschool experience and allows for a low adult/child ratio. Our parent volunteers, as well as our teachers submit to a police reference check yearly to ensure your child's safety.
Parents also have the opportunity to give their time to the school by taking on a position on our parent run Board of Directors. Meetings take place monthly and are a great way to get more involved in your child's preschool experience and socialize with other families.
Security Clearance
As per new Child and Family Services regulations, Wildwood Playschool is required to complete security checks on all volunteers, prior to the start of the new school year. Anyone over the age of 18, who will be volunteering in the classroom at any time must complete a Police Information Check form and submit it to the school with copies of the following documents:
ONE OF:
- A government issued identification: birth certificate, provincial health care card, or social insurance card.
AND ONE OF:
- An official photo identification: driver’s license, passport, citizenship card, registry office photo identification, FAC car, or military ID card.
No other ID will be accepted
Families of new and returning students may be asked to attend a Security Check session on Monday March 15. Forms will be collected and reviewed, witnessed and submitted in preparation for the 2010-2011 school year. Anyone who does not attend and complete a security check form will not be permitted to volunteer in the classroom with their child. Details to follow.
